Riverside Resource Recovery (RRR) Energy from Waste Facility

Riverside EfW Facility in Kent will be one of the UK's most efficient energy recovery plants.  We were engaged by the Costain as the appointed civils works contractor to assist them is assessing the design of the waste and ash bunkers for the temporary condition.  In order to minimise the requirements for strengthening of the works we undertook complex 3D geotechnical analyses of the contiguous bored pile bunkers plus the integral piled foundations to which they were connected.  This approach allowed us to take advantage of the restraint offered by the pilecaps connected to the capping beam.  As a result of this we were able to provide costain with details of the additional reinforcement that they needed to include within the structure to cater for the temporary condition.
